COP27: Challenges and Expectations

On Thursday, October 27, the Paulson Institute and Edelman Global Advisory brought together two extraordinary advocates in the field of climate change and biodiversity for a conversation on COP27: Challenges and Expectations.

Henry M. Paulson, Jr., former US Secretary of the Treasury and Chairman of the Paulson Institute interviewed Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin about the goals of COP27, the role of the private sector, and the challenges ahead. Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin is the COP27 UN Climate Change High-Level Champion and Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund and the United Nations Special Envoy on Financing the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

Beginning November 6, leaders in government, the private sector, and civil society will gather in Egypt for the 2022 UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) where they will focus on the Gateway to Africa as the region faces significant issues around climate change and biodiversity loss. During a time of rising energy prices, challenges in funding climate action and countries’ commitments, and growing pressure on companies to play a role in the climate change solution, the conversations, and outcomes of COP27 are more important than ever.
