Statement of Henry M. Paulson, Jr. on World Biodiversity Day

Raging forest fires, dying coral reefs, and the rapid extinction of species are becoming ever more pronounced. We must urgently accelerate efforts to halt and reverse the decline of nature.

There is a clear economic, health, and climate case for protecting nature. There is an equally important case for preserving nature for its own sake. It is a source of beauty, inspiration, innovation, and intellectual curiosity.
