Raging forest fires, dying coral reefs, and the rapid extinction of species are becoming ever more pronounced. Despite growing awareness, governments around the world have failed to meet a single target to stem the loss of biodiversity. This is a dangerous path. We must urgently accelerate efforts to halt and reverse the decline of nature.
There is a clear economic, health, and climate case for protecting nature. There is an equally important case for preserving nature for its own sake. It is a source of beauty, inspiration, innovation, and intellectual curiosity.
