Why Better Buildings in China Can Help Save the World

Buildings use more energy than any other sector in the world and account for nearly 40 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs). Because China are the global leaders in building construction, the country is uniquely positioned to make the greatest immediate impact on reducing GHGs by promoting more efficient buildings. Today, the Paulson Institute and the China Center for International Economic Exchanges convened a one-day seminar with US and Chinese experts to examine the key challenges and opportunities for China to achieve optimized building efficiency through codes, enforcement, and implementing the latest technologies.
